Co Extruded Dual Durometer Trim Seal

Dual durometer trim seals, often referred to as "dual durometer seals" or "dual hardness trim seals," are special sealing components used in various industries for applications that require both flexibility and durability. These seals are designed to provide effective sealing and protection while also offering specific mechanical properties that suit the intended use case.

The term "dual durometer" refers to the fact that these seals are constructed from two different types of materials, each with its own distinct hardness or durometer. Durometer is a measure of the hardness of a material, often measured on a scale called the Shore Durometer scale. For instance, a soft rubber material might have a low durometer (e.g., 40A), while a harder material might have a higher durometer (e.g., 70D).

In order to complete the sealing application, the Zhongxiang New Materials line of co-extruded seals combines a soft or flexible material with one that is dense or rigid for the attachment system's strength.
Dual Durometer seals material include:

Rubber
-EPDM Rubber (Dense & Sponge)
-Silicone (Dense & Sponge)
-Neoprene(CR) (Dense & Sponge)
-Natural rubber(NR) (Dense & Sponge)
-Nitrile Rubber(NBR) (Dense & Sponge)
-and more

Plastic
-PVC
-Vinyl
-TPV, TPE & TPU
-Polypropylene

Metal
-steel or wire carrier
-Aluminum Wire Carrier

Dual durometer trim seals are commonly used in industries such as automotive, construction, aerospace, and manufacturing. Some applications include:
Automotive Weatherstripping: These seals are used in car doors, windows, sunroofs, and other areas to prevent water, wind, and noise from entering the vehicle cabin. The combination of soft and hard materials helps achieve a good seal while withstanding repeated use.
Industrial Equipment: Machinery and equipment often require seals that can adapt to different surfaces while still providing a reliable barrier against contaminants, dust, or fluids.
Construction and Architectural Use: Dual durometer seals can be used in building envelopes to provide an effective seal against weather elements while accommodating building movement and settling.
Aerospace and Marine: These seals are used in aircraft and marine vessels to prevent water ingress, reduce noise, and ensure proper insulation.
