Why High Temp Silicone Gasket Material?
When creating an elastomeric gasket & seals, it's important to take the surrounding environment into consideration. Rubber materials are susceptible to degradation and a decrease in performance when exposed to excessive heat. Heat aging of the rubber material is often done before many rubber tests, such as mechanical testing, as a preliminary step for many rubber tests such as ASTM D 573, ASTM D 1056, UL 50, UL 48, UL 508, and UL 157, all of which have heat aging requirements. If rubber gaskets or seals are exposed to high temperatures or prolonged heat exposure, they may fail prematurely and allow water to seep in.
High-temperature silicone gasket material is a type of high-temperature gasket material that is specifically designed to withstand high temperatures and provide an effective seal in high-temperature environments.
